In our final project for Materiality, we designed a firepit for the Rising festival in Melbourne (2021). We made multiple prototypes and spend weeks ideating different possible ideas. Our main goal was to make the firepit recycled or recyclable. We chose to upcycle an old intake funnel of an air conditioning unit as our base shape and had a fabricator cut it up and weld it together. The addition of the rope was to avoid people from burning themselves on the metal.
